Decatur
Even though it's a suburb of one of the largest metro areas in the U.S., Decatur has retained much of its small-town charm. Its cozy town square features shops, restaurants and government offices, all within walking distance. At the same time, Decatur, Georgia, remains an artful blend of historic architecture and new construction. Points of interest in Decatur include several on the National Register of Historic Places, such as the Decatur Cemetery and The Old Courthouse on the Square. Decatur, GA, is also home to Columbia Theological Seminary and Agnes Scott College, a private liberal arts college for women.
The community of 18,000 people offers a vibrant music scene, with the town square hosting a number of outdoor concerts and festivals, including the annual Decatur Arts Festival on Memorial Day Weekend.
The county seat of Georgia's DeKalb County, Decatur is located six miles east of Atlanta and west of Stone Mountain.
