Atlanta Film Festival
The Atlanta Film Festival draws an audience of more than 25,000 independent film enthusiasts, movie fans and filmmakers to Atlanta, Georgia. 'Indies' and supporters have the opportunity to view more than 150 films over a 9-day period during the film festival—one of only two dozen Academy Award qualifiers for narrative short films. The Atlanta Film Festival showcases a variety of genres, among them documentaries, narratives, foreign films, experimental film, animation and local production.
Attendees can immerse themselves in the Atlanta Film Festival experience through Festival Genius, which allows participants to watch movie trailers, schedule screenings on the their personal film festival calendar and rate them after they have been viewed. In addition to top notch independent films from around the globe, movie enthusiasts can mix and mingle with filmmakers and industry professionals during a variety of Atlanta Film Festival events including awards ceremonies and workshops. Past honorees of the IMAGE Film Award Gala, held immediately prior to ATLFF, include Cicely Tyson, Spike Lee, Burt Reynolds, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee.
The highly respected Atlanta Film Festival was founded in 1977 by IMAGE Film & Video Center, now known as Atlanta Film Festival 365 (ATLFF365). The nonprofit media arts organization based in Atlanta, Georgia hosts a variety of events celebrating film and art throughout the year. The Atlanta Film Festival, presented by Turner Broadcasting, is its most distinguished event.
