Atlanta History Center

The Atlanta History Center holds the distinction of being one of the largest history museums in the U.S. Signature exhibitions at the Atlanta history museum focus on Southern history and on Atlanta's history.

"Turning Point" explores the American Civil War. With cannons, flags, uniforms, videos and other items of interest, the Atlanta History Museum's exhibit is among the nation's largest Civil War displays. "Metropolitan Frontiers" examines the history of Atlanta through the centuries. The 1928 Swan House and 1840s Tullie Smith Farm are also part of the Atlanta History Center and tours are available.

The Atlanta History Museum is located in the Buckhead district of Atlanta.

Allow plenty of time - the Atlanta History Center is on 33 acres and exploring everything can take all day!

Dress appropriately to be outside - there are extensive gardens and trails to tour.

Be sure to go upstairs to the Olympic exhibit. Plenty of interactive activities great for adults and kids alike.
