National Black Arts Festival
The National Black Arts Festival is a summer festival that's among the highlights of Atlanta's annual calendar of events. Held every July, the much-acclaimed Black Arts Festival showcases performing arts, literature and visual arts produced by creative artists of African descent.
All weekend long, the NBAF Main Stage at Centennial Olympic Park will feature live music, from jazz and blues to funk and global fusions. Artist spotlights include Afro-Brazilian group Ilê Aiyê, Cuban artists Orquesta Macuba and Omar Sosa, Senegalese musician Cheikh Lo, U.S. Jazz artist Gregory Porter and many more! Musical performances, creative dance and other exciting events will bring this festival to life!
Also on the 2011 National Black Arts Festival schedule are the NBAF Artists Market and a Children's Education Village. Attendees at this year's National Black Arts Festival may participate in a DNA project that will allow them to trace their African roots.
The National Black Arts Festival was first held in Atlanta in 1988.
